Bryan King expects Tottenham left-back Ben Davies to leave the club at the end of the season.

The ex-Spurs scout thinks Boca Juniors ace Kevin Zenón could be signed as a long-term replacement for the Welshman.

It comes after a report from CaughtOffside (5 November) shared that Tottenham are interested in Zenón, who has a £13million release clause.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - thinks the 23-year-old could be a beneficial signing for Ange Postecoglou's side.

“Davies can play as a left-back or left-sided centre-back,” King said.

“He has been a great servant to Tottenham over the years. However, I imagine that he could well be one of those players moved on at the end of the season.

“Therefore, signing a player like this who can cover on the left will be a plus for the squad.”

Ben Davies to leave Tottenham at the end of the season?

This isn't the first time that Spurs have been linked to a versatile, young, left-sided player (via Fabrizio Romano, 7 September). Therefore, it looks increasingly likely that the club are planning for life without Davies.

The defender is the club's current longest-serving player and is a very reliable squad option. However, his contract does expire at the end of the current campaign.

Therefore, Postecoglou might feel as though now is the time to bring in somebody new.

While keeping the 31-year-old around wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, any money used for a new contract could be better but toward a younger replacement.
