West Brom fans react to Will Lankshear debut after Tottenham loan deal

Tottenham have a positive record of producing young talent and now a loanee has impressed on his debut after completing a winter switch.

This campaign, Ange Postecoglou has shown how willing he is to hand youth a chance with both Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray playing key roles.

With that being said, there is only so many youngsters that can be handed regular minutes that will benefit their progress.

As a result, a loan away from North London makes sense and one ace has proved exactly why that is such a positive move to make.

Tottenham loanee Will Lankshear impresses on West Brom debut

Will Lankshear was the latest academy prospect to make a temporary switch away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the winter window.

Some fans in N17 were disappointed to lose the 19-year-old after making six appearances for the first team so far this season.

Regardless of this, the young forward now has the opportunity to go and impress with West Brom who are in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Championship.

The Spurs loanee made his debut at The Hawthorns in a 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday (8 February) and it is safe to say that he impressed.

Lankshear played his part in the opening goal of the afternoon as he played a flicked pass to Tom Fellows before Adam Armstrong scored, one fan on X described his impact as “instrumental”.

Another supporter described his showing as “solid” while another said: “He was very impressive. Nuisance for the Sheffield Wednesday defenders with his physicality and link-up play, also played a part in our first goal.”

If anything summed up the Baggies’ feelings about the Lilywhites’ forward, it is one fan who said: “We love him here already.”

Tottenham may regret loaning out Will Lankshear

It is safe to say that injuries have ravaged the Spurs first-team this campaign and any squad depth represents positive squad depth right now.

As a result, Postecoglou letting the young forward go could prove to be a mistake especially if injury strikes again in the forward line.

Richarlison is out once again and there is no guarantee that Mathys Tel is going to hit the ground running.

As a result, keeping hold of Lankshear could have been wise for the Lilywhites, especially after these rave reviews from the Baggies supporters.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the 19-year-old gets on as the rest of the season goes on in the West Midlands.
