Tottenham fans call for return of history-making defender after Cristian Romero update – ‘Pathetic’

Cristian Romero has been solid for Tottenham since the new season began.

There was a moment where it looked like Romero was heading towards a departure from Tottenham in the summer.

But speculation is what it remained as Romero became captain at Spurs, joining legendary stars such as Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min, who departed Spurs to join the Frenchman at LAFC.

However, the latest update on the defender has sent fans into a frenzy, with some already searching for a solution.

Tottenham fans demand Luca Vuskovic return

It has been widely reported that Romero did not travel with the rest of the squad to the Aspmyra Stadion, where Tottenham will face Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League.

This comes after Thomas Frank said in Monday’s press conference before the game on 29 September that Romero missed training as “just a precaution.”

Tottenham fans have not responded well to the news, given the Argentine’s recent injury history in North London.

As such, several supporters have called on the club for the return of Luca Vuskovic, who Tottenham loaned to Hamburg during the summer.

The defender made history by netting Hamburg’s first Bundesliga goal in 2688 days in their 2-1 win over Heidenheim, with fans desperate to see the youngster return to Hotspur Way.

One fan said: “Call back Vuskovic right now, I am not messing about this time.”

Meanwhile, several fans were sceptical about the length of time Romero will be one. Another fan said: “So he’s out until July then.” While one more fan added: “See you in 2026 then if we are lucky. Pathetic really.”

Another said: “Brilliant, he’ll be out for four months.” One more said: “Hopefully he will be ok. We have hardly any centre back cover, we need Cuti.”

Vuskovic was a hot topic among fans, with another adding: “Vuskovic not around?”

How has Luca Vuskovic performed for Hamburg so far?

Vuskovic has made three appearances for the German side in the Bundesliga this season, playing 270 minutes in total.

After such a strong start at his temporary club, it is no wonder that Spurs fans are so desperate for his return.

The young centre-back offers stability at the back, while having a knack for scoring goals. But with the season still in its early stages and Vuskovic thriving away from Tottenham, a return to Hotspur Way is unlikely for now.
