Tottenham ace ‘must be sold ASAP’ after defeat v Liverpool – ‘Waste of space’
Tottenham have been obliterated out of the EFL Cup semi-final following a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.
Despite the numerous injuries at Hotspur Way, because of Lucas Bergvall’s winner in the first leg, there was a small sense of hope from Spurs supporters heading into the clash on 6 February.
Cody Gakpo evened up the scores after just 34 minutes before Mohamed Salah scored the Reds’ second of the night just six minutes into the second half.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk added late goals to really rub salt into the wounds as the Lilywhites crashed and burned, and it was pretty difficult to pick out one of the worst performers.
Richarlison disappoints Tottenham supporters yet again
However, supporters flooded onto social media just before half-time, hitting out at the injury-plagued Richarlison, with Ange Postecoglou being forced to throw Mathys Tel on for his debut.
While fans were excited to see their new signing on his first appearances, the Brazilian remained the centre of attention, with one user stating that Spurs “need to get rid ASAP” [X], with many others concurring.
Few supporters were really surprised by the player’s setback, with the 27-year-old starting just two Premier League games this season, and the patience has finally worn off.

Spurs striker joins injury crisis after Anfield thrashing
While Kevin Danso and Tel were both added to the squad during the winter window, Postecoglou was still without several key stars heading into the game.
Those names include Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, but the manager can only use absentees as an excuse so many times.
Richarlison, who joined the Lilywhites on a £60million deal in 2022, is the next to join the medical table yet again, having scored just 18 goals in 80 appearances in his three seasons at the club.
It is clear that Levy, Postecoglou, and Johan Lange have various changes which need to be made to the squad during the summer, that is if any of those figures are still working in North London come the next transfer window.
