Tottenham told to sack Postecoglou after what he said about defeat v AZ – ‘Did I hear right?’

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have had enough of Ange Postecoglou after losing at AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.

The first leg 1-0 defeat in the Netherlands (6 March) leaves Spurs’ Europa League campaign – and season as a whole – hanging by a thread.

Postecoglou and his side return to North London to reverse the deficit next week, following Lucas Bergvall’s freak own goal.

Tottenham fans rage at Postecoglou after ‘excuse’

Tottenham fans were already spewing with rage at the goal and the result, even before Postecoglou delivered his post-match reaction.

When posted on X by the official Spurs page (6 March), supporters were quick to air their angry reactions, accusing the head coach of repeating himself after defeats.

Postecoglou also made a comment about the playing surface, which enraged fans even further ahead of next week’s make-or-break second leg in N17.

Europa League is the final straw for Spurs

All Tottenham fans know the entire excuse of a season rests on next Thursday. Fans are incensed enough as it is, especially when Postecoglou was nominated for February’s Premier League manager of the month award.

Postecoglou is in over his head at this point and is attempting to save face, but he is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the issues plaguing Spurs.

It runs a lot deeper, and that’s what most fans recognise when their anger is directed. Postecoglou does hold the baton with what happens on the pitch, but he certainly doesn’t have all the cards in his favour.

Tottenham have endured a rough season

There remains every chance Tottenham overturn the deficit and still remain favourites to progress, having before this week been the entire tournament favourites.

In a bid to scoop their first silverware since 2008, Spurs’ campaign is now condensed into 90 vital minutes. Should they not go the way of the Lilywhites, it could finally be the end of the road for their boss.
