Tottenham told to sack Postecoglou after ‘horrendous’ incident v Man City

Tottenham supporters want Ange Postecoglou sacked after a “horrendous” moment in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side condemned Spurs to their 14th Premier League defeat of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (26 February).

Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the match, while the City striker had a second ruled out late on in controversial circumstances.

Kevin Danso was blamed for his role in Haaland’s winning goal after 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro struggled to contain Jeremy Doku on a difficult evening for Spurs. However, it was Postecoglou who fans were left fuming with after one moment in the match.

Tottenham fans fume after Timo Werner replaces James Maddison

James Maddison was on the receiving end of yet another dig from Roy Keane ahead of kick-off. However, unlike in the 1-0 Premier League win against Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 16 February, the midfielder failed to respond.

With that being said, fans were still less than impressed to see Maddison hooked late in the second half for Werner, with some suggesting that this was a sackable offence, while another branded the decision “horrendous”.

Postecoglou causes outrage among Tottenham fans

Maddison wasn’t having his best game against City. However, the decision to replace him late on was certainly a confusing one, considering the playmaker is one of Spurs’ most creative players, and the home side were chasing a goal.

Werner has failed to impress this season and has only scored once. Therefore, it is difficult to blame fans for not having much optimism after the German was introduced.

Postecoglou has the majority of his squad back now and will get more of his key players back in the coming weeks. As a result, the Australian is going to be scrutinised more closely than ever by fans, as he now has a full squad of players to pick from, and can’t use injuries as an excuse for poor results.
