Tottenham outrage: ‘Disgraceful’ Spurs torn to shreds over news – ‘Levy Out’

Tottenham are being torn to shreds by their own fans after it was confirmed that Son Heung-min’s contract has been extended.

Son, 32, was set to leave Spurs at the end of this season when his contract was due to expire.

However, the North London club has controversially taken the decision to trigger a one-year extension clause in his contract despite the fact he’s vastly out of form and amid reports that he wanted a new contract.

Tottenham new contract with Son nowhere near close

The Times reported on 21 December that Son and Spurs have been nowhere near to reaching an agreement on a new deal, even though the Premier League club wants to keep the South Korea star well into his 30s.

Son’s extension means that he’s contracted to Tottenham until the age of 34 and with his form already dipping and the fact he might want to spend the end of his career elsewhere to win silverware, the decision to extend his deal has caused some outrage on social media.

Daniel Levy has been accused of making a commercial decision – rather than a football one – due to how many South Koreans the club can attract.

Another claims that Son’s performances now suggest he’s “stealing a wage” in North London.

Son has played 23 times in all competitions for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season, scoring seven goals and supplying six assists.

Despite many not being too pleased with his form over the festive period, in which Spurs won just won of their seven December matches, the South Korea international remains a key player in Postecoglou’s squad and goals against Roma, West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester United this season show he’s still capable of stepping up in big games.
