Tottenham fans heartbroken as Son caught up in ugly Everton scenes – ‘Pathetic’
Tottenham supporters were apoplectic after watching Ange Postecoglou’s side suffer a 3-2 defeat to Everton on Sunday.
Son Heung-min has often been used as a scapegoat this season despite boasting six goals and six assists in the Premier League, and that was no different in the scenes after the defeat on 19 January.
Having gone over to thank the fans for travelling all the way up to Goodison Park, Ange Postecoglou’s presence clearly aggravated the away supporters, leading to Son also being targeted by expletive chants.
As videos of these chants emerged on X, fans away from Goodison Park have leapt to the captain’s defence, suggesting he “doesn’t deserve any of this” for what he has achieved with Spurs.
A second fan dubbed the scenes “heartbreaking” as “one of our best players of all time” looked deflated and defeated, with another stating that they “hate” the away supporters this season.

There is no hiding from the fact that the 32-year-old has not been playing at his very best, but with the entire squad struggling, it is a lot of pressure to put on one player’s shoulders.
With a lack of investment on the pitch from Daniel Levy and Postecoglou clearly stuck in his ways despite things not working, there are other people that the anger can be aimed at.
Son had dedicated nearly a decade of his life to the Lilywhites, having first joined in August 2015, making the away fans’ decision to curse him out of Goodison Park all the more baffling.
Of course, a 3-2 defeat to Everton should never be acceptable for a club like Spurs, but until big changes are made behind the scenes, the players cannot keep taking the brunt of the criticism and hate from supporters.
The South Korean has 170 goals for Spurs during his long spell in North London. Now is not the time to force him out of the club.
