Tottenham fans explode at new Cristian Romero announcement – ‘Clown’, ‘Get rid’
Tottenham fans have made their feelings clear on social media following the latest announcement regarding Cristian Romero after his injury.
The Argentine defender has not featured for Spurs since 8 December with a thigh injury, and has returned to training on the grass ahead of a return in the Premier League and Europa League.
However, this means he is also available for Argentina with the international break approaching later this month, and he has been called up to the nation’s preliminary squad for their upcoming games.

Tottenham fans ‘done with’ Romero after news
Argentina’s football federation published their official preliminary squad to take on Uruguay and Brazil on X on Sunday night (2 March) which has been quickly brought to the attention of Tottenham fans.
Unsurprisingly for Spurs followers, Romero has been named, adding fuel to the current narrative that Romero prioritises his fitness to play for his country over his club, with Tottenham also urged to “block” the call-up.
One fan called Romero a “clown”, while another branded the 26-year-old “everything wrong with modern-day football”. Others have called on Spurs to sell the centre-half.
Romero, now vice-skipper in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, has played 112 times for Tottenham and scored seven goals.
He has three goals in 40 Argentina caps, winning one World Cup and two Copa America titles.

Spurs all-in for Europa League success
Understandably, most Tottenham fans are solely fixated on the Europa League, which now signals the last hope of any success from a tough campaign.
Spurs were eliminated from both domestic cup competitions in quick succession back in February, and are now the bookmakers’ favourites with Sky Bet at 9/2 to lift their third secondary European cup, and first since it changed from the UEFA Cup to the Europa League.

AZ Alkmaar provide Tottenham their test with a two-legged tie starting in the Netherlands on Thursday (6 March). The second leg will be played next week in N17.
Doubts remain over whether Romero will play any part in the last 16 tie, which has Spurs fans’ backs up due to his previous unwavering commitment to representing his country, which is what they feel at the detriment to the club for whom he deputises as vice-captain.
