Postecoglou commits ‘genuine sackable offence’, Levy told to fire Tottenham boss

Tottenham have been told to sack Ange Postecoglou after an in-game substitution the Australian made against Tamworth on Sunday.

Postecoglou named a strong team for Spurs’ FA Cup third-round tie at the Lamb Ground on 12 January, with one of the club’s high-profile stars targeted by fans ahead of kick-off.

Therefore, it makes the fact that they needed extra time to finally score their first goal en route to an eventual 3-0 win all the more embarrassing.

A lot of supporters might feel as though the blame lies with the players, rather than Postecoglou, who named more or less as strong a team as he could. However, after a double substitution made by the Spurs boss midway through the second half, it is fair to say that the placement of the blame shifted.

Tottenham told to sack Ange Postecoglou after Tamworth win

Timo Werner was incredibly poor against Tamworth. As a result, that made the decision to keep him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes all the more embarrassing.

Instead of hooking the German as part of a double substitution which saw Dominic Solanke and Lucas Bergvall introduced in the 68th minute, it was Pape Matar Sarr and Mikey Moore who made way.

One supporter suggested this is a decision which could get Postecoglou the sack, while another suggested the entire performance as a whole should be enough to convince Daniel Levy to fire the 59-year-old.

In the end, Spurs did get the win, which should keep Postecoglou in the job for now. However, considering the gulf in quality between the two teams, the Australian will still be embarrassed by the overall performance.
