Levy told to ‘sack Johan Lange now’ after ‘Unacceptable’ Tottenham reveal
Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has been told to sack Johan Lange after an “unacceptable” transfer reveal after the winter window closed.
Spurs’ sporting director revealed that the club were ready to do business from the first day of January but the change in the format of UEFA competitions made it difficult to strike deals (SpursPlay).
The Lilywhites signed Antonin Kinsky in the opening days of the window but left it until deadline day week to add Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel at the last minute.
Supporters believe that Lange should pay for the lack of early recruits with his job, especially given the injury crisis facing Ange Postecoglou every week.
Tottenham left their business late
Spurs left it late to reinforce their squad and that has left supporters furious with the sporting director’s comments.
One supporter claimed that “other clubs never had any problems getting players in early” and demanded that Spurs sack Lange and bring back former recruitment chief Fabio Paratici.
Another fan agreed with that opinion, telling the North London club to “get this guy gone, get Don Paratici back.”
The criticism of Lange is warranted given that Postecoglou was forced to navigate an entire month with one new signing in the middle of an injury crisis.
A centre-back was a priority from the moment the window opened due to injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven yet one was only brought in as the deadline approached.
The same with an attacker, Dominic Solanke and Richarlison have suffered persistent fitness issues but the club waited until the final day to bring in Tel.
The Londoners now sit 14th in the Premier League and the lack of transfer activity is partly to blame.
