Ange Postecoglou ‘has given up’ after latest Tottenham development

Tottenham appear to have given up on the Premier League after what Ange Postecoglou did on Sunday.

Spurs fans would have a right to assume that Postecoglou is now fully focussed on the UEFA Europa League, considering the club’s dismal position in the Premier League.

However, the Australian isn’t doing a very good job of hiding that fact, and at least making it look as though Spurs are still trying to remain competitive in the Premier League.

The North London side are set to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday (16 March). However, after what Postecoglou has done, it appears as though many fans feel as though the players shouldn’t have even bothered making the short trip across London.

Tottenham XI named v Fulham

Postecoglou was expected to make eight Tottenham changes against Fulham for the Premier League London derby.

And while it isn’t quite as many as eight, seven Spurs players have made way for the clash with Fulham, which many fans feel is a sign that Tottenham have now completely conceded defeat in the Premier League.

Tottenham need to find some form in the Premier League

It is understandable why Postecoglou would be fully focussed on the Europa League.

Tottenham could finish in the bottom half of the Premier League

However, with the international break to come, it feels as though the 59-year-old could have gone with his strongest team for this clash at Craven Cottage.

For example, a player like James Maddison won’t be playing any football over the next two weeks as he hasn’t been called up by England. Therefore, it seems incredibly strange that the midfielder has been left on the bench.

While the Europa League is the priority, if Spurs continue to lose matches in the Premier League, that is going to damage morale among the players and kill any kind of momentum the club are trying to build.

As a result, Postecoglou should perhaps consider not making so many changes for every Premier League fixture between now and the end of the season.
