Will Lankshear could quit Tottenham and join Championship club in January

Tottenham striker Will Lankshear could be on the move in January.

As reported by Alasdair Gold via Football London (31 December), as long as another striker is signed, Lankshear could be allowed to leave Tottenham in January either permanently or on loan.

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson has been linked with a move to North London [via TEAMtalk, 31 December], and any transfer agreement could open the door for Lankshear to move on.

And if the striker is to leave, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the 19-year-old will join a Championship club.

“Lankshear hasn’t been given much of a chance,” King said.

“I would have certainly handed him more opportunities in recent weeks, especially with Richarlison unavailable. However, if he does leave, he will join a Championship club.

“That could be a good move for him. He looks to me like an old English centre-forward, which isn’t a bad sign. He puts himself about, he is physical. However, he just doesn’t seem to have been given many chances.”

Will Lankshear to quit Tottenham in January?

Lankshear looks to have plenty of potential and has already scored a senior goal for Tottenham. Therefore, it might be a mistake to let the player leave permanently.

While he isn’t playing much at the moment, he is still only 19. As a result, if Spurs are going to let him go this month, it should absolutely be a loan exit, not a permanent one.

Ange Postecoglou is under serious pressure in North London and has much bigger things to worry about than Lankshear’s long-term development or future.

However, that doesn’t mean the club should let go of a player who could become a star in the future.

In other Tottenham news, Paul Merson has shared a “difficult” Postecoglou stance.
