Wayne Burnett praised after ‘brilliant’ thing he has done behind-the-scenes at Tottenham

John Wenham has praised Tottenham Under-21s’ head coach Wayne Burnett for the “brilliant” job he did last season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims the coach has helped massively with the club’s development.

Burnett led the Under-21s to the top of the Premier League 2 and guided the North London side to victory in the competition’s play-off stage.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Burnett deserves special mention.

“I also want to give huge credit to Burnett,” Wenham said.

“He has done a brilliant job galvanising the team after a disappointing season last year.

“They have lost some key players throughout the season and Wayne has done a fantastic job promoting the Under-18s.

“He’s done brilliant things for the club’s development, and I think he deserves huge credit.”

Plenty of Tottenham supporters might not have heard of or know much about Burnett.

However, his role within the club is significant.

Players such as Harry Kane wouldn’t exist if not for youth coaches.

And a lot of that work goes unnoticed.

Burnett is the first point of contact for a lot of young hopefuls at Tottenham.

He has a defining role to play in the development of any stars who breakthrough into the first team and make an impact at the club.
