Viktor Gyökeres ‘to cost £50m’ amid ‘significant’ Tottenham transfer news

Sporting Lisbon could let Viktor Gyökeres leave for £50million as “significant” Tottenham transfer news emerges.

Dominic Solanke is the current number-one choice striker in North London.

However, the 27-year-old has spent some time on the sidelines injured this season, with Spurs’ medical staff called into question. Therefore, Tottenham could perhaps benefit from bringing in another frontman.

And it looks as though they’re ready to pull out all the stops to sign Gyökeres.

Tottenham want to sign Sporting Lisbon star Gyökeres

As reported by Fichajes (20 March), Tottenham are ready to make a “significant investment” to sign Sporting striker Gyökeres.

The Portuguese club aren’t willing to let the 26-year-old, who is a “top priority” for Tottenham, go without a fight. However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated that £50m could be enough to seal a deal.

“I think he would cost £50m,” King said.

“A fee of between £50-60million I believe would be enough to sign Gyökeres. I like this player, he is very direct and he has scored a lot of goals in Portugal.

“People will question the quality of defences in that league. There are only really three big teams in Portugal, other teams just make the league up.

“However, Gyökeres has already proved that he can score goals in England from his time in the Championship.”

Tottenham could make a statement by signing Gyökeres

Spurs have so often failed to go out and sign ready-made players who can make an instant impact on the first team. As a result, this is why supporters have grown so tired of Daniel Levy and the club’s current owners.

Therefore, if Tottenham were to bring Gyökeres to North London, it would be a huge statement of intent.

The Swede is arguably one of the best strikers in European football, and at the age of 26, he still has plenty of time to improve.
