Vicario backed to replace ‘hopeless’ Antonín Kinský for Tottenham v Man Utd
Ange Postecoglou will soon need to decide between Guglielmo Vicario and Antonín Kinský at Tottenham.
Kinský made a bright start to life in North London after Daniel Levy’s hard work to bring the 21-year-old to Tottenham during the winter transfer window.
As a result of his impressive form, Spurs were expected to have held talks with Vicario behind the scenes. However, Kinský has begun to struggle in recent games.
Therefore, Vicario could come straight back into the team when Postecoglou’s side take on Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday (16 February).
Guglielmo Vicario to replace Antonín Kinský at Tottenham?
James Maddison, Destiny Udogie and Vicario are all expected to return for the clash with Ruben Amorim’s side in North London [The Times].
Therefore, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Kinský could be dropped to the bench for Vicario.
“Vicario needs to start against United,” King said.
“Kinský has cost Tottenham in the games against Liverpool and Aston Villa. At Anfield, he should have been catching the ball when he was punching and punching when he was trying to catch it. He is putting the team under pressure all the time.
“At Villa Park, you saw the difference between a top keeper and one who isn’t sure if he is going to be a regular or not. Kinský is still young, that is fair enough. However, Spurs needed a bit of experience in those two games, and he was going from brilliant to hopeless and hopeless back to brilliant again.”
Guglielmo Vicario to start for Tottenham v Manchester United
Vicario hasn’t featured for Spurs since their 4-0 Premier League win against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 23 November.
After Kinský’s arrival, it seemed as though there was no need to rush the Italian back, and it looked as though Spurs’ number one might have had to settle for a place on the bench upon his return to action.

However, Kinský’s recent performances demonstrate that he is still a young goalkeeper with plenty to learn. Therefore, Postecoglou will be desperate to bring the more experienced Vicario back into the fold as he looks to turn Spurs’ form around.
