Tottenham will be ‘frustrated’ by Alfie Devine development at Plymouth Argyle
John Wenham claims those connected with Tottenham will be “frustrated ” by what has happened to on-loan midfielder Alfie Devine in recent weeks.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose still feels that a Championship loan next season would be best for Devine despite his recent struggles with Plymouth Argyle.
It comes after Ian Foster was dismissed as manager of The Pilgrims earlier this month.
Foster was a big fan of Devine, labelling him a “talented” player when the midfielder arrived at the club in January, and Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this change has impacted the Spurs loanee negatively.
“Unfortunately, you have got to get used to that in football, managers chop and change all the time, especially in this day and age,” Wenham said.
“Tottenham will be frustrated because Foster knew both Ashley Phillips and Devine from his time with the England youth teams.
“While Phillips has managed to get himself back in the team, Devine has struggled slightly, and he has been on the bench recently.
“I still think he is capable of playing in the Championship on loan again next year, it is just about Tottenham picking the right club.”
Tottenham must ensure they allow Alfie Devine to develop in the correct way
Devine and Foster’s previous connection would have helped the 19-year-old settle in at Plymouth following his loan switch.
He will have no doubt been sad to see the manager go, but luckily for the youngster, there are just a couple more months left of his loan spell.

Spurs will be keen to get Devine back to North London and perhaps send him to a more stable environment next season where he can continue his development uninterrupted.
In other Tottenham news, Wenham has backed the club to complete the signing of an “immense” forward after a £42million-plus update.
