Tottenham told to sign Timo Werner amid Fabrizio Romano transfer update

John Wenham believes Tottenham would be wise to make Timo Werner’s stay permanent.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that the German could be a useful squad option for Ange Postecoglou next season.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano reported via X (8 April) that the 28-year-old is happy in North London.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is not surprised that Werner wants to stick around.

“I believe it would be a good idea to sign Werner permanently,” Wenham said.

“I’m not surprised that he wants to stay at the club, he has come in and started a lot of games which he wasn’t doing with RB Leipzig.

“He clearly feels wanted, Postecoglou is saying a lot of positive things about him, and he is making an impact.

“He seems to be a big part of the squad behind the scenes, and Tottenham are going to need more options with a return to European football looking likely next year.”

Should Tottenham sign Timo Werner permanently?

The final decision on Werner must be made by Postecoglou.

If the Australian is keen on signing the forward after his loan deal expires, then Daniel Levy must ensure he gets the deal done.

It would be a straightforward transfer for Levy to complete, and one which he would have zero excuses not to make.

Werner has shown moments of quality, and if he were to be signed alongside a big-name forward this summer, it is difficult to imagine that too many Tottenham fans would have many complaints.
