Tottenham told to sign 20-goal-a-season striker after newspaper transfer speculation for January
We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Alan Hutton wants to see Tottenham striker a striker capable of scoring at least 20 goals a season in the January transfer window.
The Mirror reported on Sunday (10 December) that Ange Postecoglou is “optimistic” about adding to his strikeforce next month with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez both named in the newspaper’s report.
Richarlison returned to Spurs’ starting line-up with a bang by scoring twice against Newcastle on Sunday but in spite of this, Hutton believes that to keep on moving in the right direction, the North London club needs to bolster their front line by signing a proven goalscorer.

“I said at the start of the season that I thought Richarlison could be the main Tottenham striker,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“When Kane left, it opened up an opportunity for Richarlison but it wasn’t quite happening for him.
“Son has taken that mantle but I like him out wide, if I’m honest.
“I think even if Richarlison is firing on all cylinders like he was against Newcastle, I still believe Spurs need someone else.
“If Tottenham are going to go to the next level, they need to get a striker who you know is going to get them 20-plus goals a season. It’s something they still will be looking at.”

Richarlison scored the third and fourth Premier League goals of his Tottenham career against Newcastle.
He now has just seven goals in 49 appearances in all competitions since joining the Londoners from Everton almost 18 months ago.
In other Tottenham news, Dele Alli could be used as a way for Spurs to sign this “fantastic” Premier League defender.
