Tottenham told to seal £30m+ Patrick Dorgu transfer before Liverpool clash
Tottenham have been told to complete the signing of Patrick Dorgu ahead of the clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.
Postecoglou’s side will host the in-form Reds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (8 January) in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, with a host of first-team players set to miss out.
According to Give Me Sport (1 January), Spurs are seriously considering whether or not to sign Dorgu from Lecce amid strong competition for the wing-back’s signature, which could cost in excess of £30million [via Give Me Sport, 2 January]
And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has urged the club to stop thinking and get a deal agreed before Wednesday.
“Why don’t we try, as a club, to be proactive for once instead of reactive,” Wenham said.
“Let’s go and sign Dorgu now so that he is ready to play against Liverpool, rather than sit around and wait just to save a bit of money.
“Pay the extra money and go and sign the players who can improve the club. Let’s do things to actually try and improve the squad for once, rather than sitting around and waiting for the worst to happen before reacting.
“This deal for Dorgu should have already been done and he should be gearing up to go. However, that hasn’t happened, and I find that really frustrating.”
Tottenham to sign Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu?
It looks as though Tottenham understand the importance of addressing their squad issues this month, with the club on the verge of completing their first January transfer [via Fabrizio Romano, 4 January].
However, they must not stop there, as the injury crisis in North London is so severe that multiple signings will need to be made, which was made evident in the 2-1 Premier League defeat against Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (4 January).

Therefore, if Dorgu is available, the club need to go and sign him now, so that he is ready to make an impact for the second half of January.
