Tottenham told to release Ryan Sessegnon after news emerges on Thursday

John Wenham of Lilywhie Rose believes Tottenham should release Ryan Sessegon from his contract.

Wenham has insisted that Sessegnon’s long-term future does not lie in North London, and there is therefore little point in keeping the ex-Fulham man around for the final year of his deal.

Ahead of Spurs’ clash with Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (7 April), the Evening Standard (4 April) have provided an update on Spurs’ injured stars.

Within that update, they have revealed it is “unlikely” that Sessesgon will play again this season after undergoing a second hamstring surgery in 12 months.

Wenham – Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes it is time for the 23-year-old to move on.

“I believe the best thing Tottenham can do is release Sessegnon while allowing him to continue training at Hotspur Way.

“I’m sure another Premier League club will take him on, but I just think he needs a change of scenery and a fresh start.

“It just hasn’t worked out for him with these constant injuries at Tottenham, and it would be a big step in the club’s rebuild if they were to let him go.

“Some supporters have suggested to me we should renew his contract, but what’s the point?

“He could get fit again, but he would only be getting fit to move on in a year or two instead.”

Does Ryan Sessegnon have any future under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

It is incredibly sad to see what has happened to Sessegnon at Tottenham.

He arrived at the club with so much potential, but injuries have prevented him from living up to it.

While he is still only 23, and it is by no means too late for him to turn his career around, it appears as if that might be difficult to do under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Competition for places in the Australian’s squad is high, and Sessegnon might be better off taking a step down and starting over.

It is a great shame as Postecoglou is a manager who perhaps might have gotten the best out of Sessegnon, but considering the current circumstances, a fresh start for Sessegnon is perhaps a smart idea.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham has blasted Yves Bissouma after Postecoglou used one word to describe the midfielder.
