Tottenham to turn heads at Bournemouth with £50m+ Dominic Solanke bid amid January transfer speculation

We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Tottenham will have to pay £50million-plus if they are serious about a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, Alan Hutton has said.

Solanke, 26, is having a brilliant season for the Cherries, netting 12 times in the Premier League to sit third in the Golden Boot race – just two back of Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.

It has seen Solanke come on to the radar of some the Premier League’s big hitters and the Sun reported on 25 December that he is on Spurs’ radar, while TEAMtalk suggested sources revealed he will be worth £50m.

Former Spurs defender Hutton – speaking to Tottenham News – said transfers now are “incredible figures” but acknowledged it would be about the going rate, especially in a position he thinks Tottenham need reinforcement.

He said: “I think it has to be £50m-plus doesn’t it?”

“He’s at a good age, he knows the league. I think his form’s been excellent, he showed Tottenham obviously what he’s capable of against them.

“I thought he played really well, he was a nuisance, a constant threat.

“It’s difficult to put numbers on because some of them at this moment in time, it’s incredible figures but you’d have to be thinking £50m-plus anyway.

“He’s a guy Bournemouth won’t want to leave but they understand if a fee’s big enough it’s difficult to turn down, so it’ll be an interesting one.

“I do think Tottenham need that striker, it can be difficult in January because no one wants to lose their kind of focal point but it’ll be interesting to see if that one materialises or not.”

Spurs defeated Solanke’s Bournemouth 3-1 on New Year’s Eve (December 31), a result that left them fifth in the Premier League, just six points off top spot.

They take a break from league action to welcome Burnley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the FA Cup third round on Friday (5 January).
