Tottenham to take ‘huge loss’ on Tanguy Ndombele as new summer transfer prediction emerges

Tottenham and Daniel Levy are going to take a “huge loss” on Tanguy Ndombele to get him off the wage bill this summer, according to Alan Hutton.

The French midfielder joined Spurs under Mauricio Pochettinho in a £63million transfer from Lyon [Sky Sports, 2 July 2019] but has struggled to reach the heights expected of him throughout his time in North London.

Ndombele has spent the season on loan with Galatasaray but has failed to make an impact in Turkey, only starting four Super Lig matches all term with his last league start coming all the way back in January against Kayserispor.

While Hutton believes the Lilywhites may struggle to find a team willing to take the 27-year-old off of their hands this summer, he insists that Spurs simply have to find him a permanent move away from North London.

“I forgot about him, that’s the honest truth,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“He’s a guy that they paid huge money for, probably gave him a huge contract and he’s pretty much done nothing. I don’t know if it’s something within him that he’s not willing to fight or give his all.

“I don’t think he looked like he wanted to work hard in a Tottenham shirt, he looked like he wanted to be all flair and wasn’t bothered with anything else.

“They’re going to have to chalk that one up to a huge loss in my opinion. I don’t see many suitors out there for him and I don’t watch many of their games so I don’t know exactly how he’s been performing over there but every time I have seen him he hasn’t hit the heights they thought he would.

“It’s a real blow for Tottenham because they will get nowhere near that money back for him so it is a case of who can we sell him to.”

Does Tanguy Ndombele still play for Tottenham?

It speaks volumes about Ndombele’s time at Spurs that Hutton had completely forgotten he was still a Tottenham player, that’s just how forgettable he has been as a footballer for the last few seasons.

Whether or not Levy will be able to find a team willing to pay any sort of fee for the Frenchman this summer remains to be seen, but there is absolutely no chance any side will come close to the £63million originally paid to Lyon.

Ange Postecoglou likes his midfielders to be full of energy. Both Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma have been as hardworking as anyone else in the Lilywhites’ side and Ndombele just simply isn’t capable of playing in that manner.

Hopefully, Levy can sort out a move for the 27-year-old as soon as the transfer window opens and whatever money is raised can be invested back into the playing squad.
