Tottenham ‘to sign Liam Delap’ as striker conundrum emerges
Liam Delap has been the standout player for Ipswich in what has been an otherwise dismal campaign and a move to Tottenham could be on the cards.
Ever since the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, Spurs have struggled in the striker department, though they tried to remedy that with the big-money signing of Dominic Solanke.
However, injuries have prevented Solanke from having any telling impact in the current campaign and it may be a position Spurs look towards in the summer.
Delap has been courted by several clubs, though Tottenham are said to hold an interest in the ex-City man in a deal that would have several factors to consider.

Delap dilemma emerges at Tottenham ahead of summer window
If Tottenham are to pursue a deal for Delap, he certainly wouldn’t come cheap with Paul Robinson alluding to the potential dilemmas that could hinder a deal.
“He’s a player, I like him,” Robinson exclusively told Tottenham News.
“I’ve seen him a couple of times this year. Saw him in the New Year against Chelsea at home when they got the result against Chelsea and I thought he was outstanding. I thought his work rate, his attitude, his application was excellent.
“He’s an old-fashioned striker who works extremely hard. He never gives up a lost cause. Could he fit in that Tottenham side? Yeah, he could fit in that Tottenham side but we know the way that Tottenham’s run.
Premier League | Appearances | Goals | Assists | xG + xA |
Liam Delap | 25 | 10 | 2 | 9.1 |
“You look at what they spent on Dominic Solanke. Unless he’s going to move on, there’s no way they’re going to go to the market and pay what it would take to get Liam Delap.
“He will be a Premier League player next season. I’d take him at Tottenham but then what are you going to do with Solanke? Because of the way that Ange Postecoglou plays, it opens up a whole new conversation about the manager as well. Delap is not going to come and sit on the bench behind Dominic Solanke.
“Dominic Solanke’s not going to want to stay if Delap is going to come in and play instead of him. Would I have him? Yeah, absolutely. Will he end up a Premier League player for next season? Yeah, 100% definitely.”

Tottenham must show ambition in the summer
With it looking like this season will end without silverware, barring a remarkable run in the Europa League, ambition will be key to future success.
Starting with the summer. Tottenham need to sign players capable of taking this team to the next level and Delap would fit that bill.
A young English forward capable of scoring goals and using his physicality to dominate defenders. Where have we seen that before?
