Tottenham to settle Gibbs-White saga imminently, ‘he’s against Nuno’ – Exclusive

Tottenham could be about to finally settle the saga surrounding Morgan Gibbs-White’s future.

Nottingham Forest are still standing in the way of the midfielder’s move to North London, despite the fact that the release clause in his contract has already been triggered.

Spurs have been pushing to get the deal for Gibbs-White over the line, but Forest have threatened to take legal action against their Premier League rivals for what they deemed to have been an illegal approach for their player.

The situation surrounding Gibbs-White has changed on numerous occasions over the course of the last few days, but now it looks as though a definitive conclusion could be on the horizon.

Gibbs-White’s future could be sorted by Monday

Spurs’ approach has now left Gibbs-White in something of an awkward situation.

He has had the carrot of a potential big-money move dangled in front of him, but the Reds have been refusing to step aside and allow Daniel Levy and Co. to go through with the deal.

However, the situation could be about to come to a head imminently, with the East Midlands outfit set to jet off to Portugal for a pre-season training camp on Monday (21 July).

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that both parties will want to reach an agreement soon, with pre-season plans now well underway.

“It has to be sorted soon,” King said.

“Spurs will be flying away somewhere shortly as well.

“Nuno Espirito Santo will want to know what players he will be able to use while they’re away on the training camp.

“It makes it uneasy for Gibbs-White, travelling with the team, doing pre-season with Forest. The manager will want to know whether he’s with him or against him, and at the moment, he’s against him.”

Tottenham are right to feel frustrated with the situation

The saga surrounding Gibbs-White’s potential move to Spurs has been a major source of controversy, and Tottenham are well within their rights to be frustrated with how it has all played out.

The N17 outfit have seemingly not tried to undercut Forest’s valuation of the England man, or attempt to turn his head without making a concrete offer.

They appear to have gone about everything in a fair and proper manner, which should therefore have made it a relatively easy deal to conclude.

Instead, they have been left with a situation where they are just playing a waiting game.

Tottenham are essentially now awaiting a decision from either Forest themselves or the Premier League, knowing that there is little more that they can do to try and get the deal done.

If the saga stretches any further, it could seriously derail the Lilywhites’ summer transfer window, and seemingly through no fault of their own.
