Tottenham to rectify ‘biggest mistake’ with Conor Gallagher loan signing as Atletico Madrid open exit door
Tottenham could make their interest in Conor Gallagher count this winter as an Atletico Madrid exit looks increasingly likely.
Gallagher has been linked to Tottenham in the past, as his Chelsea exit in 2024 sparked reported interest from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Englishman has done well in LaLiga, but Gallagher could soon leave Atletico for Tottenham as his time appears to be up in the Spanish capital.
Spurs have shown interest in Gallagher ahead of the January window after their midfield struggles so far this season under Thomas Frank.
It looks as if Atletico Madrid want to get rid of Gallagher next month, with the Lilywhites potentially set to take advantage.

Atletico Madrid tell Conor Gallagher he can leave
A deal for Gallagher fell through at Tottenham before his Spanish switch, so interest is bound to be on the cards in the coming weeks.
The Englishman provides box-to-box qualities and an industrious nature that has been missing from North London so far this campaign.
Frank has struggled to select a positive midfield pairing, with Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur coming under scrutiny for a lack of mobility.

The Dane could look to add to his options this winter, with his interest bound to be piqued by Atletico telling Gallagher he can go.
That is according to former scout Bryan King, who has suggested a loan move to N17 could be on the cards for the Englishman in January.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “He’s been told by Atletico that he’s not part of their plans.
“Spurs should have signed him when he left Chelsea, that was their biggest mistake.
“If he becomes available either on loan or on a permanent deal, he would certainly do well.
“By the time they get him in, there’s a fair chance that Maddison will be back, and I think when they’ve played for England together over the years, they’ve always done well.
“That kind of quality, you’ve got to be looking for. I think he would jump at coming back because of next year’s World Cup.
“I think he’ll come back on loan, a similar deal to Jack Grealish at Everton, but I would pay £30m for him, if Atletico would agree to that.“
Gallagher could transform Tottenham beyond January
Spurs may have younger midfield assets like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Pape Sarr in their ranks, but Frank doesn’t seem to be fully trusting.
The trio all have positive experience in the Premier League, but aren’t yet up to whatever it is the Danish head coach wants to see.

If Gallagher comes in, he would undoubtedly represent a regular starter and, with his aggressive nature, could be exactly what the Lilywhites are missing right now.
Tottenham this season have been too nice and too easy to beat, so pairing the dynamism of the Englishman with someone like Palhinha could be transformational.
