Tottenham to quickly cash in on Troy Parrott to balance books, he’ll become victim of FFP
Tottenham are likely to cash in on the permanent sale of Troy Parrott this summer to help keep adhering to Profit and Sustainability rules, Paul Robinson has said.
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been enjoying a decent spell on loan at Eredivisie side Excelsior, scoring eight times in 22 league appearances – 15 of which have been starts.
It remains to be seen if he still has a long-term future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though, with TeamTalk reporting (7 April) that several Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing the striker and Spurs are ready to cash in.
Robinson thinks the fact that academy graduates are allowed to be put down as pure profit on the balance sheets means he will become of a victim of the Financial Fair Play pressures Premier League clubs are working under in the current climate.
The former Spurs goalkeeper told Tottenham News: “Well they’ve sent him out this season obviously for game time, and at 22 you would expect him to have more of an impact on the first team if he was part of the manager’s future planning.
“For him, he could become a victim of the FFP and PSR rules and the home-grown player Spurs might see an opportunity to cash in on a player that would quite quickly balance up some books that might not be looking in the right way.”
Tottenham to sell Troy Parrott this summer
There was much expectation placed on the young shoulders of Parrott, especially given he made his debut at the tender age of 17 back in September 2019 in an EFL Cup clash with Colchester United.
But, the thing is, he’s now longer a prodigious teenager. He’s 22-years-old and you’d expect that if Spurs fancied him to be a part of the squad he’d already be involved.

Loan spells at Millwall, Ipswich Town, MK Dons and Preston were not exactly goal laden, though he has shown some form in the Netherlands,
It does feel like the most sensible course of action, though, would be to allow him to depart full time this summer. Parrott needs a place to call home and Spurs can make a decent profit on the balance books.
