Tottenham ‘to offer Djed Spence contract extension’ amid £30m+ transfer claim
Djed Spence could be set to extend his stay with Tottenham as speculation over his future emerges.
Ange Postecoglou appeared to have no time for Spence at the beginning of the season.
However, the defender has worked his way into the team, recently scoring his first Premier League goal in the 4-1 win at Ipswich Town on Saturday (22 February), which left one Manchester City star in awe.
Spence was rested for the 1-0 Premier League defeat against the Cityzens at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (26 February). However, the 24-year-old still managed to make a big impact after coming on against Pep Guardiola’s side.
As a result of this form, Spence could be rewarded by Tottenham in the summer.

Tottenham star Spence now worth £30million-plus
Spence’s current deal in North London was recently extended until 2028, with the Englishman thought to have been handed a pay increase by Tottenham.
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – suspects that another extension could be on the way, with Spence’s transfer value only heading in one direction.
“He has got a contract with the club until 2028,” Wenham said.
“Based on his current form, I wouldn’t be surprised if another contract extension is being lined up for the summer which would see Spence extend until 2030 or 2031.
“I just think he is reaching new heights now, and he is easily worth £30million-plus already, and that value will only continue to skyrocket. He is homegrown and he can play on both sides of the pitch.”

Spence deserves to start regularly for Tottenham
While Spurs’ injury crisis has derailed their season, Postecoglou should be thankful that the injury to Destiny Udogie at least allowed him to give Spence an opportunity.
Tottenham 2024/25 | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Djed Spence | 20 | 2 | 2 |
Had it not been for this, the ex-Nottingham Forest loanee might have been moved on, a decision which Tottenham would have no doubt lived to regret.
Now that he is in the team, Spence needs to be starting regularly, and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet, and certainly the first fullback on the teamsheet.
