Tottenham to make decision on ‘Impressive’ Will Lankshear after what he did on Friday

John Wenham believes Will Lankshear will remain at Tottenham next season rather than head out on loan, despite his “impressive” form this year.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that other players in Spurs’ Under-21 squad will be first to head out on loan.

Lankshear added two more goals to his impressive tally for the season as Tottenham claimed a 2-0 win over Fulham’s Under-21s on Friday (26 April) to secure top spot in this season’s Premier League 2.

But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that despite his form, a loan move is not on the cards for the 18-year-old.

“I believe Lankshear will stay at the club this summer, despite his impressive numbers this year,” Wenham said.

“Players like Jamie Donley and Jude Soonsup-Bell will be first to go out on loan, whereas, with Lankshear, I think he will be kept around until at least midway through next season.

“Lankshear is still 18, which is quite young compared to some of his other teammates, and I think Spurs will be keen for the striker to continue his development with the club.”

Will Lankshear could become a star at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Ange Postecoglou

Lankshear has had a breakthrough season at Hotspur Way.

He has been scoring consistently for the Under-21s and is a big reason why Spurs have finished top of the pile in the Premier League 2, ahead of the competition splitting into a play-off phase between the top 16 teams.

While he is yet to earn his first-team debut in North London, senior minutes can’t be too far around the corner, and Spurs might therefore be keen to keep a close eye on Lankshear next season.

In other Tottenham news, the club have been backed to complete a “next level” signing which would secure a top-four finish.
