Tottenham ‘to hijack Aston Villa move’ for Man United star Marcus Rashford

Tottenham could look to bring Manchester United star Marcus Rashford to the club before Monday 3 February.

Ange Postecoglou needs a forward at Spurs after Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel rejected the chance to join the club following face-to-face talks with Daniel Levy [via Fabrizio Romano, 31 January].

As reported by the Daily Mail (1 February), Tottenham have made a shock enquiry for Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho, who is valued at around £60million.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has backed Postecoglou’s side to make a move for Rashford instead.

“Garnacho is a wide player,” King said.

“I don’t like his attitude. If Tottenham are going to try and sign a forward player from Manchester United they should be looking to sign Rashford. Garnacho isn’t needed.

“Dominic Solanke is out, Spurs need a player who knows where the back of the net is. Rashford can play through the middle, Spurs already have enough wingers. Therefore, Spurs could hijack Aston Villa’s move for Rashford.”

Tottenham to hijack Aston Villa move for Marcus Rashford?

As reported by Fabrizio Romano (1 February), negotiations are ongoing between Villa and Rashford after Unai Emery gave the transfer the green light.

As a result, if Tottenham want to sign the 27-year-old, they will need to act fast. The club have been left humiliated after multiple transfer reactions in recent days, with Johan Lange on the chopping block.

Therefore, bringing Rashford to the club would be the perfect way to salvage what has been an otherwise miserable winter transfer window.

However, any deal would no doubt be costly, and this saga is likely to go right down to the wire.

In other Tottenham news, AC Milan have offered a forward player to the club ahead of 3 February.
