Tottenham to enter transfer negotiations for ‘exciting’ West Ham United talent Dan Rigge

John Wenham believes Tottenham could struggle to get a deal agreed for West Ham United youngster Dan Rigge.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims that the North London side could look to strike up a deal with the Hammers, although a positive outcome is not likely.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano revealed (27 April) that Spurs are leading the race for Rigge with several clubs set to make approaches in the coming weeks.

But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t see Rigge joining Ange Postecoglou’s side, despite Romano’s update.

“It was interesting for Romano to report that we are chasing an exciting youngster such as Rigge,” Wenham said.

“However, where that story stopped for me was when I saw that he still had two years left to run on his pro contract at the London Stadium.

“He isn’t a free agent, so Tottenham will try and negotiate a deal with West Ham, but how often do transfers happen between those two clubs in reality?

“If he was out of contract then I could see it happening, but West Ham hold all the cards and as a result, I don’t see this deal coming off.”

Tottenham could struggle to sign Dan Rigge from West Ham United

Spurs and West Ham are two of the Premier League’s fiercest rivals.

It is not often you see players make the switch between the London Stadium and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Hammers are unlikely to want one of their most promising academy prospects to join up with their London rivals, and would therefore likely make a deal very difficult.

As a result, Tottenham would probably be better suited to looking at different targets.
