Tottenham ‘to build NFL base for the Jaguars’ after controversial development
Tottenham might have just paved the way for The Jacksonville Jaguars to permanently relocate to North London.
Daniel Levy has received plenty of criticism in recent weeks.
Spurs supporters took to the streets ahead of the 1-0 Premier League win over Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (16 February) to protest against Levy and ENIC.
The majority of fans’ concerns are centred around the club’s lack of focus on footballing-related activities, with Levy seemingly taking every opportunity to turn the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into a multi-purpose entertainment venue.
Concerts, boxing events and rugby matches, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium more or less does it all. However, perhaps their most lucrative non-football-related revenue stream is their partnership with the NFL, with annual matches taking place in North London, and it looks as though that partnership could now be extended.

Tottenham ‘to build permanent NFL base’ after acquiring new land
As reported by BBC Sport (13 February), Tottenham have been permitted to build a new training ground in Whitewebbs Park, Enfield – as the North London club continue to improve their facilities.
A new women’s academy will be built, with 11 pitches and a new clubhouse. This is despite 296 objections being sent to Enfield Council, with many comments about the loss of green space and the impact on wildlife in the area. Objectors to the plans included The Woodland Trust.
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks the North London club plans to do more than just build a brand-new women’s academy.
“Tottenham have acquired all this additional space for the women’s team,” Wenham said.
“There has been a lot of controversy around that move. Looking at it realistically, if you’re picking up an area of land which fits 11 football pitches, don’t get me wrong, there will be some space there for the women’s team.
“However, that screams to me of a potential NFL base. I think there is more to this than that area of land just being for the women’s team, it screams to me of a permanent home for the NFL, probably the Jaguars who play in London regularly. It looks as though this area is going to be custom-made for an NFL team to permanently relocate there.”
Levy continues to generate revenue for Tottenham
If an NFL team does move into Spurs’ new training ground, that means more money for the club.
Therefore, while fans are fed up with Levy and ENIC, it is difficult to deny that the club’s commercial power has been boosted significantly thanks to their current owners.
However, fans aren’t likely to have any interest unless that money is reinvested into the playing squad. Spurs have been in poor form this season, and are struggling in the Premier League as a result.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
Tottenham | 12th | +15 | 33 |
Crystal Palace | 13th | -1 | 33 |
Everton | 14th | -4 | 31 |
Manchester United | 15th | -7 | 30 |
West Ham | 16th | -17 | 30 |
Wolves | 17th | -18 | 22 |
Therefore, it is clear that the squad is in need of some investment.
