Tottenham tipped to strike Richarlison and Toney swap transfer as news emerges
Bryan King has suggested that Tottenham could agree a swap deal with Al-Ahli involving Richarlison and Ivan Toney.
The ex-Spurs scout thinks that deal could be “the perfect solution”, with Richarlison constantly being linked with a move away from North London, with a return to Everton even being speculated.
There has also been speculation that a Saudi Pro League side could make a big-money offer for Richarlison. In addition, as reported by Fichajes [1 December], Toney is considering a return to England, with Tottenham and Chelsea both showing interest.
Therefore, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated that the North London side could come up with a creative transfer solution.
“Players only go to Saudi for one thing, and that is money,” King said.
“You’re not going to improve your football. It is okay for Cristiano Ronaldo, he is nearing the end of his career. Toney isn’t. Yes, he is earning big money, which is fantastic. However, he would be paid pretty well in the Premier League as well. I thought Tottenham should have tried to sign Toney in the summer.
“I still think it is worth Spurs signing Toney. They’re still in need of a front player, Richarlison isn’t ever available, so bring someone new in. I think it could be quite interesting if Toney arrives at the club, perhaps as part of a swap deal for Richarlison. What a good deal that would be, the perfect solution.”
Tottenham to swap Richarlison for Ivan Toney?
Richarlison is consistently unavailable, with his constant injury issues causing frustration in North London.
Therefore, moving him on wouldn’t be such a bad idea, and if Spurs could bring in an experienced Premier League goalscorer to replace him, that could be the ideal solution.
Ange Postecoglou would no doubt be much happier if he had Toney as an option as well as Dominic Solanke.
However, for that to happen, the Al Ahli striker would no doubt need to accept a wage cut. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether a deal is possible.
