Tottenham tipped to agree cut-price transfer for £25m rated Abdukodir Khusanov

Bryan King has suggested Tottenham could look to agree a cut-price deal for Abdukodir Khusanov.

The ex-Spurs scout thinks the centre-back would be worth around £10million, with Ange Postecoglou desperate for new signings as pressure builds.

It comes as the Telegraph reports [2 December] that Newcastle and Tottenham are both interested in Khusanov, who is valued by RC Lens at around £25million.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks the 20-year-old would need to be “something special” to justify that kind of price.

“This player isn’t going to play regularly,” King said.

“Spurs have centre-backs who will start ahead of him. There aren’t too many players from Uzbekistan in the Premier League, and he is only 20. Therefore, if he is worth £25million he would have to be something special. I think the fee sounds a bit inflated.

“I think realistically Tottenham would be looking to sign him for around £10million, then that transfer could become very interesting.”

Tottenham to agree cut-price deal for Abdukodir Khusanov?

Spurs have several issues at the back, as evidenced by recent injury struggles. Therefore, it would make sense to bring in another centre-back, perhaps even as soon as January.

However, bringing in a 20-year-old with no experience of English football could prove to be risky.

Khusanov might be a talented player who is performing well in France. However, spending £25million on potential isn’t necessarily what Spurs should be doing at the moment.

Tottenham have already spent big on young players in recent times. Therefore, they might be better off saving the £25million and putting it toward a ready-made player, if they can’t agree a cut-price deal.

In other Tottenham news, the club will jet a forward into the UK within days as a January signing is agreed.
