Tottenham tipped for stunning Julian Brandt deal after what Borussia Dortmund star has repeatedly said

Tottenham have Julian Brandt in their sights ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The Lilywhites added eight new faces to their ranks during the summer window, but Thomas Frank still appears keen to add to his squad this winter.

Tottenham have made an enquiry over Marc-Andre ter Stegen in recent days, as they go in search of high-quality options to bolster their group even further.

Brandt is another star who has been linked with a move to N17 of late, and he could finally be about to get the Premier League switch that he has been touted for in the past.

Julian Brandt would be a ‘great benefit’ to Tottenham

A move to Tottenham would be “financially attractive” for Brandt, who is in the final year of his contract at Borussia Dortmund.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a switch to North London of late, as he could be about to step out of the Bundesliga for the first time in his career.

However, BILD recently reported that a new deal could potentially be on the table for the attacking midfielder, as Dortmund may launch a last-minute move to keep him around.

Nevertheless, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Brandt would be a strong addition for the Lilywhites, especially if they could get him on a free transfer.

“If he is available, then it’s exactly the sort of quality that they’ve just got in (Joao) Palhinha,” King said.

“Frank will obviously know about Brandt because in the last five or six years, he’s been spoken about coming to the Premier League on several occasions.

“He’s a very interesting player, and he would certainly be a great benefit to Tottenham. If they could get him on a free transfer, how much better could they get?

“They’d get four years out of him, at least until he turns 33, because he hasn’t had too many injury problems and seems to keep himself in good shape.”

Spurs will need to move quickly to get Julian Brandt

Brandt has been linked with Tottenham previously, but they were ultimately unable to secure his signature.

They will need to move quickly if they want to make it a different story on this occasion.

Dortmund’s sudden change of heart over the midfielder adds another dimension to Spurs’ pursuit, because it is now likely to become a case of them trying to convince him to run his contract down as long as possible, to a point when they can also make an offer.

The Lilywhites may be better served trying to offer a cut-price fee for the 48-cap international in January, to see if they can try and tempt Dortmund into doing business with money on the table.
