Tottenham: Tanguy Ndombele finished at Spurs as Daniel Levy prepares transfer ‘exit plan’
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will already be creating an “exit plan” to sell Tanguy Ndombele permanently this summer, according to Alan Hutton.
The French midfielder joined Spurs under the management of Mauricio Pochettinho in a £63million transfer from Lyon [Sky Sports, 2 July 2019] but has never managed to reach the heights expected of him throughout his time in North London.
Ndombele has spent this season on loan in the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray who do have an option to make his stay permanent, but it remains unclear if they will activate that clause as the 27-year-old has only started four league matches this season.
Despite having a year left on his deal with Spurs, Hutton doesn’t believe the midfielder has any chance of returning to the fold under Ange Postecoglou and expects Tottenham to cut ties, no matter the cost this summer.
“He’s had enough opportunities,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“Don’t get me wrong I think it has probably been difficult for him under the likes of Jose Mourinho where he is very defensive-minded and he is looking for a player to do a specific job and that wasn’t really his go-to role.
“He’s more of a maverick and a free spirit who just wants to go and pick up the ball and do whatever he wants to do. Could he fit into that Tottenham side? Probably. With the attributes that he’s got, I think he’s more than capable.
“For me, it was more of an attitude thing, I could be totally wrong but from the outside looking in he just didn’t have that real desire and I think you need it to play under Ange.
“I think the likes of Levy will be looking for an exit plan for him. He’s obviously on huge wages and they paid a lot of money for him. Will they get that back? Absolutely not.
“It might just be a case now of cutting those ties and getting him out the door to another team.”
Will Tanguy Ndombele play for Tottenham again under Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy?
It has been clear for some time that Ndombele just isn’t cut out for the Premier League as he has never managed to string consistent performances together since arriving in the English game.

Postecoglou and Spurs have already been linked with a host of potential new midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window and for new faces to arrive, old players are going to have to be sold and that will include Ndombele.
While Levy doesn’t like losing money, like most football owners, he will have to just take a financial hit on the Frenchman. While it will be disappointing to waste such a huge transfer fee, it will save Spurs money in the long run by getting rid of his wages.
In other Tottenham news, Hutton insists that Spurs will have already made contact with Leipzig over a permanent deal for Timo Werner
