Tottenham takeover more difficult as ENIC ‘position and price’ strengthens amid £100million-plus boost – Spurs Expert

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes recent financial figures published by Deloitte “will only strengthen ENIC’s position and price” in any potential Tottenham takeover.

It was recently revealed in the latest edition of the Deloitte Football Money League that Tottenham’s revenue for the 2022/23 season rose by £106.4million from the season before.

Having finished ninth in the money league in 2022, Spurs moved up one position to eighth, overtaking London rivals Chelsea, which sees them lead the way as the capital’s highest revenue-generating club with Arsenal in tenth position and West Ham down in eighteenth.

Off the back of this development, Wenham believes that ENIC’s grip on the club has only grown stronger.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I know Spurs supporters are always asking if a takeover is on the cards, but these latest figures will only strengthen ENIC’s position and price moving forward.

“They’re going to be looking for significantly more money now off the back of this because financially Spurs are right up there with the world’s biggest clubs.

“We’d all love to be among those clubs in terms of trophies won as well, but if you look at the bigger picture, we’re making fantastic progress.

“Look at the stadium, how much people actually enjoy going there. Unlike lots of other new stadiums where you hear of fans desperately craving their old ground, I don’t think you would find too many Tottenham fans who are craving a return to the old White Hart Lane.

“So there is lots to be positive about off the pitch, and on the pitch with Ange Postecoglou at the helm, hopefully, things will only get stronger.”

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou could drop one forward for the trip to Everton after his zero per cent display against Brentford.
