Tottenham star receives ‘£50,000-a-week’ pay rise after contract decision

Tottenham are facing a summer of uncertainty, although one player has put an end to any speculation over his future by signing a new contract.

Regardless of whether Spurs win the UEFA Europa League, Ange Postecoglou is expected to leave.

In addition, several high-profile players face uncertain futures, with Cristian Romero’s exit from Tottenham all but sealed.

As a result, it looks as though there will be plenty of change in North London over the coming months. However, in a bit of good news for Spurs supporters, it appears one of the Lilywhites’ most exciting players won’t be going anywhere.

Lucas Bergvall signs new contract at Tottenham

Spurs supporters have been handed a bit of good news ahead of the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May).

On Tuesday (29 April), it was announced that Bergvall has signed a new six-year contract at Tottenham.

And ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated what kind of money the 19-year-old might now be earning.

“He will definitely have been handed a pay rise, that is for sure,” King said.

“I’d imagine he was on around £15,000-a-week when he joined. Therefore, he is probably on around £65,000-a-week after signing this new deal.

“I’m sure as he continues to develop, those wages will increase; that agreement is probably tied into his new contract with Tottenham.”

Bergvall can become a superstar at Tottenham

For all of Spurs’ struggles this season, a positive to come out of the campaign has been the development of players such as Bergvall and Archie Gray.

Both teenagers have demonstrated they can become stars at Tottenham, particularly Bergvall, who has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet in North London.

As a result, big clubs were bound to have taken notice. Therefore, it is a big boost that Tottenham have agreed a new contract with the Swede.
