Slaven Bilic appointment claim made at Tottenham as Igor Tudor farce continues

Tottenham appear to have dug themselves an even bigger hole with the appointment of Igor Tudor.

The Croatian came in after being identified as an interim boss who could come in and turn things around quickly, as he had done at other clubs.

His recent spells at Juventus and Lazio seemingly caught the eye at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he was appointed as the replacement for Thomas Frank.

Things really haven’t worked out for the 47-year-old, having taken charge of three defeats on the bounce in North London.

Tudor could soon depart Spurs and leave them in desperate need of an alternative, but maybe they should have gone for Slaven Bilic in the first place.

Igor Tudor appointment at Tottenham is still baffling

There were ways of explaining why the Lilywhites may have gone after the former Marseille boss, but it was still a surprise option.

Many tipped him to struggle in N17, and that has been proven right with a terrible start to life since coming in as temporary manager.

Former scout Bryan King still doesn’t understand why Tudor was the chosen appointment when even fellow countryman Bilic would have been a better choice.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “If they were going to go for a Croatian, I would have sooner rather gone for Slaven Bilic.

“I honestly don’t know where they dug up Tudor’s name.

“He’s brought three staff members in with him, and it doesn’t look like they’re going to gel any time soon.

“It was a surprise choice. I don’t know who picked him, and it was not a clever move.

“There were better options out there to take the job until the end of the season, like Bilic.

“It’s become a farcical situation at Tottenham with the managers, and I certainly wouldn’t have brought Tudor in.”

Tottenham could still appoint Slaven Bilic

There may not be much time left for Tudor to prove why he is the man to drag Spurs away from the relegation battle.

Things are looking grim right now, and a third managerial change of the campaign may be the only bow left in the quiver for the North Londoners.

Bilic could remain in waiting as Tottenham may open themselves up to the appointment of a new interim boss with Premier League experience.

The Croatian certainly has that from his days with West Ham and West Brom, so could make for a useful option for the final weeks of the campaign.

Tudor will have to depart before that can happen, so it is bound to be an interesting few days and weeks.
