Tottenham: Sergio Reguilon transfer prediction for January made after ‘strange’ Manchester United move
We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Alan Hutton predicted Sergio Reguilon will depart Tottenham again this January after his “strange” Manchester Untied loan.
The Spanish left-back joined the Red Devils on what was supposed to be a season-long loan in August after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia left them short of cover in the position (BBC Sport, 2 January).
But the 27-year-old is back in North London after United made use of a break clause in the deal, with Reguilon having made only 12 appearances for the club.

With Destiny Udogie in supreme form for Spurs and Ben Davies providing able back-up, it seems unlikely Reguilon will get an opportunity under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.
And former Spurs defender Hutton – speaking to Tottenham News – thinks the club will be looking to move him on again this month.
“I think if they could sell him on or even get him back out on loan to get his wages off the wage bill I think that’s something they’ll consider,” he said.
“Obviously Udogie has been outstanding, he’s a guy for the future, as long as he doesn’t pick up any sort of injury or anything he’s your go-to man.

“I thought it was a strange move, I understand Manchester United at that time were really struggling at left-back, Luke Shaw was injured now he’s back so he’s not really getting the game time.
“So I understand why they’ve cut it short, they don’t need him any more. But in terms of going straight back into the Spurs squad I’m not so sure, I think they will obviously try and move him on in this transfer window.”
Reguilon has made 67 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham but spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
He failed to convince Postecoglou that he could be a part of his squad and Udogie has since cemented himself as the club’s first-choice left-back.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs are have set their sights on a player dubbed the new Christian Eriksen.
