A lot of questions have been asked of Spurs’ medical department as a result of the extreme number of injuries the club have suffered this season, with an investigation planned and behind-the-scenes dismissals mooted as a result.

As per The Spurs News on Instagram (8 January), the North London club are looking for a brand new ‘First Team Performance Rehabilitation Coach’, a ‘First Team Rehabilitation Physiotherapist’ and a new ‘Head of Men’s Medical’.

It comes not long after Geoff Scott left his position as Head of Medicine and Sports Science at Tottenham after 20 years of service, and according to Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – Scott was removed from his position.

“I find this all very interesting because I’ve met Geoff on a couple of occasions,” Wenham said.

“He was never anything but nice to me, and when I was a kid, he helped me get into a pre-season friendly and I got to meet some of the Spurs players.

“In addition, Antonio Conte kept him, José Mourinho kept him, and Mauricio Pochettino liked him. Therefore, I find it unusual that he was removed and seen as a problem, and since he has left our injury problems have gotten worse.

“We’ve seen that the medical team are getting replaced again, so there are issues in that department.”

Tottenham to make behind-the-scenes changes in North London?

Something clearly isn’t right in North London. While teams do pick up injuries, the amount of players that have suffered at Spurs this season is quite incredible.

Therefore, it makes sense why the club were keen to investigate this issue, and it does seem rather interesting that these issues have arisen after Scott left his post, having served the club for such a lengthy amount of time.

As a result, if Postecoglou was the reason behind his departure, questions should be asked of the Australian.

However, for now, the club just need to focus on getting their injured players back fit again.
