Tottenham: Pundit shares damning Ivan Perisic verdict as Fabrizio Romano transfer update emerges

Ivan Perisic’s “time’s up” at Tottenham Hotspur according to Alan Hutton, as the winger looks set to complete a move away from North London in the January transfer window.
Tottenham News exclusively reported that the Croatian international is set to make an emotional return to his homeland and reunite with his boyhood club Hajduk Split during the summer transfer window.
Since that news broke, Fabrizio Romano reported late on 18 January to share an update suggesting that the 34-year-old is closing in on a move back to Croatia in January, with Perisic expected to join Hajduk Split on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.
While Hutton admits that he can’t understand why Hajduk Split would be willing to risk signing an injured player, he thinks Perisic’s time at Spurs is up and thinks a move away in the summer would be “ideal” for all parties.
“It was a serious injury,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“I can’t imagine them signing him at this moment in time just in case there’s any complications and I don’t think any team would risk that. In my opinion, it would probably go down to let’s wait in the summer.
“I think his time’s up at Tottenham, I don’t think he’s going to come back into that team so at the end of the summer when he’s fit, he’s ready and they can see that, he can go through all his medical checks no problem and then sign.
“I think that’s probably the ideal situation.”
Across his career with Spurs, Perisic has managed to score only once in 50 appearances in all competitions but did manage to chip in creatively last season, providing 12 assists for his teammates in 44 matches.
While he started the season in reasonable form under Ange Postecoglou, a major cruciate ligament injury saw his campaign brought to an end after five matches and it seems as though his short career at Tottenham is already coming to an end.
