Tottenham must be wary of ‘outstanding’ West Ham star Jarrod Bowen – Expert

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham has described West Ham star Jarrod Bowen as an “absolutely outstanding” player ahead of the Hammers’ trip to Tottenham on Thursday (7 December).

Spurs stopped a run of three consecutive defeats by rescuing a late draw against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (3 December).

Dejan Kulusevski’s last-gasp goal to make it 3-3 will give Ange Postecoglou’s side plenty of belief heading into the clash with London rivals West Ham after a testing few weeks.

Ahead of the showdown, Wenham has been discussing Spurs’ chances and labelled Bowen as a player who could cause them problems.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “West Ham are a funny side, they’ve got some really good players, for example, Bowen who I love, I think he’s absolutely outstanding.

“They’re a club who had a similar summer to us in terms of losing their star player, and actually, I haven’t been that impressed with them this season.

“I do expect us to beat West Ham, but this is a night game, this is also always their biggest match of the season, so they will be very much up for it.

“It will be a match of high energy, there will be a great atmosphere in the stadium for those that are lucky enough to be going, and I think overall we will just have a bit too much for them.

“Those European games are starting to catch up with them competing in the UEFA Europa League, and I expect us to be that bit fresher and to get the job done.”

In other Tottenham news, the club’s recent draw with Manchester City could prove to be their most important result of the season.
