Tottenham make behind-the-scenes change after brand-new appointment
Tottenham have made changes behind the scenes to ensure morale is high ahead of the UEFA Europa League semi-final.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were beaten for the 19th time in the Premier League this season on Sunday (27 April) as Liverpool thrashed Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield to clinch their 20th English league title.
As a result, the mood behind the scenes at Hotspur Way is likely to be low ahead of a season-defining clash on Thursday (1 May) when Spurs welcome Bodø/Glimt to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first leg of the Europa League semi-final
However, it appears as though changes are being made behind the scenes to lift the mood in North London, with one man thought to be the driving force behind these changes.

Vinai Venkatesham appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tottenham
It was recently announced that former Arsenal Chief Executive Officer, Venkatesham, would begin work as Tottenham’s CEO this summer.
The 43-year-old is thought to be an upgrade on Scott Munn, who is expected to leave Tottenham.
Vinai Venkatesham – Arsenal | Time |
Various sales/partnerships roles | 2010-2014 |
Chief Commercial Officer | 2014-2018 |
Managing Director | 2018-2020 |
Chief Executive Officer | 2020-2024 |
Venkatesham won’t officially begin his new role until the summer.
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the new Spurs supremo is already making changes behind the scenes.
“There is a negative atmosphere around the club at the moment,” Wenham said.
“However, I have noticed that changes are being made in the communications department. Suddenly, the club are doing things like bringing a flag, which usually lives in the South Stand, with them to Frankfurt.
“In addition, they’re actively working with fan groups such as THFC Flags. There has been a change, which I think could be linked to Venkatesham’s appointment. I know he isn’t due to start until the summer. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if he is already working in the background.
“Morale among the fans is at an all-time low. However, small tweaks can make a big difference. Tottenham are really trying to encourage fans to generate an atmosphere on Thursday, we’re going to have a tifo, and I think everyone is focused on how big this game is.”

Postecoglou can make history at Tottenham
For all of the criticism Postecoglou has faced since he arrived at Tottenham, the Australian has a chance to end the Lilywhites’ 17-year trophy drought and make history by winning the Europa League.
Therefore, it is good to see Tottenham making attempts to lift the mood ahead of the Europa League semi-final, and regardless of supporters’ opinions of Postecoglou and the players, everyone inside the ground needs to get behind the team on Thursday.
