Tottenham: Lawyer urges Daniel Levy to sell Leeds United loan star Joe Rodon
John Wenham believes Daniel Levy must learn from his “past mistakes” at Tottenham and accept a cut-price deal this summer for on-loan defender Joe Rodon.
Rodon has managed just 24 appearances for Tottenham since arriving in North London from Swansea in a £15million deal a little over three years ago (Sky Sports News, 17 October 2020).
After a difficult loan spell in Ligue 1 last season with Stade Rennais., where he managed just 16 league starts, Rodon joined up with Leeds United on loan at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
He has impressed during his time at Elland Road under Daniel Farke, and Wenham believes that Daniel Levy must now accept whatever offer he can get for the 26-year-old, who will have just one year left on his Spurs deal in June.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, a Litigation Lawyer with over 10 years of experience in the legal field, said: “Tottenham’s decision to sell Rodon this summer will be down to whether or not Levy has learned from his past mistakes.
“Do Spurs want to actually continue with this rebuild or do they want to dig their heels in and try and get more money for Rodon?
“I think they would be doing well to receive a fee of anywhere between £10-13million, and should just accept any deal in this range.
“It is a far higher fee than they would have got last summer after Rodon’s unsuccessful loan spell in France with Stade Rennais F.C.”
Will Joe Rodon leave Tottenham permanently this summer?
Rodon has been a rock at the back in West Yorkshire, and his recent displays might have even had Ange Postecoglou reconsidering the Welshman’s long-term future.
However, with little time remaining on his contract in North London, it is unlikely that Rodon will be offered fresh terms, and as a result, it would probably be best for both the club and player to find a solution to his long-term future this summer.
If Spurs aren’t planning on keeping the centre-back, sending him out on loan again next season would make little sense as they would then risk losing a player they signed for £15million for free.

Unfortunately for Levy that puts him in a difficult position when it comes to negotiations, and the Spurs chairman might be forced to stomach a multi-million loss this summer, or risk an even bigger one the following year.
In other Tottenham news, Wenham believes Levy must also accept a loss on another “chaotic” defender at the club.
