Tottenham January transfer prediction made as Ange Postecoglou faces imminent dilemma over Alejo Veliz
We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Alejo Veliz is an option to fill the imminent void about to be left by Son Heung-min but Ange Postecoglou will trying to get some imminent transfer business done in January first, says Alan Hutton.
Spurs are facing somewhat of a dilemma in January with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr headed to the Africa Cup of Nations, leaving them lower on midfield options.
But they are also going to have to find a solution in the forward areas as captain Son Heung-min with South Korea, with that tournament taking place between 12 January and 10 February.

With South Korea among the favourites, it could leave Spurs without their talisman for a considerable chunk of time. One possible solution could be to utilise 20-year-old striker Veliz, a summer signing, more often and he got his first Spurs goal in the recent 4-2 loss to Brighton (28 December).
Former Spurs defender Hutton, speaking to Tottenham News, thinks Postecoglou will try other solutions but Veliz might come into his thinking.
“I think he’s an option, of course,” he said.
“You still fancy Richarlison to be in that situation, Postecoglou spoke about trying to get his January business done early whether it be a centre-half or a striker, whether that’s possible I’m not sure because it’s a difficult window to get your top targets in.

“But I think they’ll still be looking, they’ll want options but I think they’ll want that focal point if you want.
“We’ll have to wait to see, he was given his opportunity, he’s taken it well for just coming on the pitch, so you’d like to see a little more game time if possible to see if he can take that number nine position.“
In other Tottenham news, one Spurs exit is now seen as inevitable.
