Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Sessegnon may be on track to return from his injury sooner than first expected, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that there is a likelihood of him being back in training even before the end of the year.

Premier Injuries have reported that the left-back is expected to be available for first-team football from 14 January.

Discussing the state of play with Sessegnon exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “From what I’ve read, it sounds like it is a possible return in early January.

If that’s the case, he should be returning to pitch work soon and then individual training. He could even return next week which indicates he’s ahead of schedule.

His day-to-day will continue to progress intensity with an increasing focus on sport-specific activities.

Sessegnon has been ruled out with a thigh injury and has been unavailable for selection for the entirety of the season.

Last term, the Englishman made 17 Premier League appearances and chipped in with two goals and he also featured in three Champions League games for the Lilywhites under Antonio Conte.

The 23-year-old’s return will see Ange Postecoglou receive an additional option at left-back as well as left wing-back, given his versatility.

Football agent Paul O Keefe recently shared that James Maddison has stepped up his recovery with treadmill sessions while Micky van de Ven was back in individual training.

In other Tottenham Hotspur news, a player is mooted to have suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and now may be out for longer than first expected.
