Tottenham injury news: Doctor issues Ryan Sessegnon return timeline
Tottenham defender Ryan Sessegnon will miss 12 weeks, ruling him out for the rest of the season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that in certain situations, surgery is the only option and that is what happened with the English full-back.
The 23-year-old issued a statement as Spurs confirmed that he has undergone surgery.
Discussing the state of play with Sessegnon exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“He was battling a hamstring injury last year and has now suffered a blow on the other side.
“In certain situations, surgery seems to be the only option and that’s what has happened with Sessegnon.
“He will be ruled out for over 12 weeks which will see him missing the rest of the season.
“It’s important that he’s not rushed back as he was already lacking match sharpness as he’s barely featured this season.”
Sessegnon to fight for Tottenham future post return
The Englishman will be devastated by his recent injury absence but he has showcased the mentality that he’s ready to fight for his future.
His deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium runs out in the summer of 2025 and due to his injury, he may not be shipped out come June.
However, if he does want game time and there are clubs keen on securing his services, he may ask for a loan or permanent move away.
That said, the focus will now be on ensuring that he takes care of himself and undergoes rehabilitation unscathed.
Currently, Pedro Porro, Fraser Forster, Manor Solomon and Destiny Udogie are also injured for Spurs.
