Tottenham injury exclusive: Update emerges on Cristian Romero return

Tottenham defender Cristian Romero is out with a tricky quadriceps injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as there are a lot of demands placed on these muscles, the rehab becomes a lot more complicated.

The Argentina international has been absent for Spurs since the dramatic 4-3 defeat to Chelsea back on 8 December.

Cristian Romero expected to be out for Tottenham for a few more weeks

The 26-year-old has been an integral first-team player for Ange Postecoglou and he certainly will be missing his leadership at the back.

While he has dealt with his absence for the last two months, he will have to manage for another few weeks, by the looks of things.

Discussing the state of play with Romero exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

What makes this tricky is the area of the injury – the quadriceps,” he said.

There are a lot of demands on these muscles plus depending on the specifics, can also be involved in hip flexion.

That can lead to a tricky rehab and things going slower than anticipated.

The club medics will be progressing him methodically through strength and conditioning while carefully monitoring how he responds.

I still see him being out for a few weeks.

Kevin Danso must now step up to the plate in Cristian Romero’s absence

Spurs signed Kevin Danso on loan from Lens in January given the injury crisis at the club.

Given Dr Rajpal Brar‘s recent update on Romero, Danso will have to be fit and consistent for a few more weeks to ensure the North London outfit end the season well.

He has impressed in few games since joining, most notably in the recent 1-0 win over Manchester United at home.
