Injury Expert: Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Sessegnon out until October after hamstring surgery
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur...
Defender Ryan Sessegnon is unlikely to return to action for Tottenham Hotspur before October, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
The 23-year-old underwent a hamstring surgery due to the recurrence of an injury in the same muscle that troubled him towards the back end of the 2022/23 season.
Manager Ange Postecoglou also confirmed the news with the club issuing an official statement on 11 July without mentioning a potential return.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Tottenham Hotspur News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Typically, returning from hamstring surgery is around three months so with the update given in mid-July, he should be back by October.
“The initial steps to his return will be restoring full range of motion and strength and then progressive movement which includes walking to jogging to running to sprinting, layer in multiple directions, et cetera.”
The Daily Mail reported in July that clubs like Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham were keen on signing the wing-back.

However, their hopes of securing the Englishman’s services have been dashed due to his injury.
Last season, Sessegnon featured on 17 occasions for Spurs in the Premier League, with nine of them being from the opening whistle.
He also found the back of the net on several occasions as he played in an advanced role down the left flank.
In other Tottenham news, a forgotten Spurs full-back may feel like a new signing under Postecoglou.
